Genrethon
I came up with an idea for our work expectance classes at college to create a two day movie marathon for the whole college on our enrichment week which is a week where we learn certain skills that will aid us in our futures as media minded people and so we came up with the genrethon. where we are to screen 8 films spread over two days getting my classmates to prepare three minute explanations of what the genre for the film is and why they are around today; what is their purpose so to speak, why do we watch and enjoy them.
so I came up with a list with my peers deciding which genres we thought we should cover and then also tried to decide which films should be used and why we managed to come up with one days worth of films however class moral was fairly low and so I took it upon myself to organise a time table for the next day taking into consideration the classes comments from the sessions we had discussing this issue.
we also decided what roles everyone would take making the decision on who would speak for what film and why and also who was going to be taking part in creating the posters for putting around the college for advertising the event.
the timetable is as follows:
Wednesday
9.00 - start
9.15 - introduction
- expose the nature of genre (what is genre)
9.18 - Life of Brian screening (94mins)
10.52 - ten minute break back for 11 start
11.00 - Hugo (126 mins) (11.05 screening after intro)
1.05pm - break 25 mins
1.30 - sherlock (1.35 screening)
3.40 - Calamity Jane (101mins/ 1 hour 40)
520 - finish.
Thursday
9.00 -Dracula - horror 128 mins
11.05- Elf- Christmas 97 mins
12.45 - lunch 30 mins
1.15- Xmen -action thriller 100 mins
3.00- Time travellers wife- romance 107 mins
4.50-finish
